Universitas Trisakti’s Faculty of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Technology (FALTL) held a National Webinar for the public with the theme Omnibus Law: “Risking Environmental Sustainability” on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at 10.00 – 14.00 WIB online.
The National Webinar aims to educate all participants in regard to the impacts Omnibus Law potentially have on the environment. The webinar included presentations from experts and a question-and-answer session.
The event was opened by Dr. Ir. Diana Irvindiaty Hendrawan M.Si., as Vice Dean I of FALTL. In her speech, the Vice Dean noted that we should always protect the environment for the sake of environmental sustainability, especially for the next generation of the nation. This will minimize environmental problems that occur today.
The first presentation was delivered by Dr. Yayat Supriyatna, Msp, an urban planning observer, focusing on the Omnibus Law and spatial planning.
The second presentation by Mr. Muhammad Kanzia, a representative of the Indonesian Extinction Rebellion Movement, was about Environmental Impact Analysis, with a broad scope ranging from socio-economic, ecological, physical-chemical, social and cultural aspects, to public health.
Furthermore, the presentation by Mr. Erlangga Satya Mukti, the Chairperson of the Landscape Architecture Student Association, focused on the ways in which the Omnibus Law affects the preservation of Indigenous Forests. The presentation highlighted the existing Forestry Law article 18 “Regulates the Land Area Coverage of Forest Areas”.
With this webinar, we hope that our generation can learn from various perspectives on how to better preserve the environment.
