SINTA Accredited Journal

SINTA Accredited Journal

One of the functions of the Science and Technology Index (SINTA) is to evaluate the performance of journals based on accreditation and citation standards. This is done by indexing all national journals accredited by the National Journal Accreditation (ARJUNA). According to the 2019 operational guidelines for assessing credit scores for teaching professors/positions, accredited national journals are scientific journals that meet the criteria of a national journal and receive accreditation status from the higher education directorate with a five-year accreditation validity period.

Regulation No. 6 of the Minister for Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia on the Accreditation of Scientific Journals of 2018 states that national journals are considered accredited if the process of the accreditation is carried out electronically through information and communications technology networks. In other words, all published journals must be available online or hold an e-ISSN (online ISSN) to allow journal articles to be tracked and reviewed transparently, particularly in regard to plagiarism or to avoid overlapping scientific development, as well as to increase the readability of the articles (a journal should have an appeal to be read and cited).

Under the same regulation, in the article (2), the ranking of national journals is the result of the accreditation of scientific journals, i.e.:

  • Rank 1 (one) with a score of (n), 85 (eighty-five) ≤ n ≤ 100 (one hundred). This is also known as Sinta-1(S1) and previously called A-ranked accredited.
  • Rank 2 (two) with a value of (n),70 (seventy) ≤ n < 85 (eighty-five). Rank 2 is also known as Sinta-2 (S2), previously B-ranked.
  • Rank 3 (three) with a value of (n), 60 (sixty) ≤ n < 70 (seventy). The third rank is also known as Sinta-3 (S3).
  • Rank 4 (four) with a value of (n), 50(fifty) ≤ n < 60 (sixty). The fourth rank is also known as Sinta-4 (S4).
  • Rank 5 (five) with a value of (n), 40 (forty) ≤ n < 50 (fifty). Rank 5 is also known as Sinta-5 (S5).
  • Rank 6 (six) with a value of (n), 30(thirty) ≤ n < 40 (forty). Rank 6 is also known as Sinta-6 (S6).
