The H-Index or h-Index is a benchmark for scientists, both as lecturers and researchers, in developing their work, particularly in terms of published research results, IPR (Intellectual Property Rights), and articles disseminated at National and International Seminars.

The H-index was first introduced in 1985 by a physicist from the University of California, San Diego, named Jorge E Hirsch. It was then considered the most effective way to assess the performance of a scientist at this time. However, it should be noted that the validity of h-index is often questioned due to its vulnerability to manipulation of self-citation. The H-index, which is often also known as the Hirsch Index or Hirsch Number, can be obtained in publication indexing media such as: Garuda Portal, Google Scholar, DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), EBSCO, CrossRef, BASE (Bielefeld Academic Search Engine), ISJD, SINTA, and Scopus.
