Intellectual Property Rights

Intellectual Property Rights is a term used to refer to a set of exclusive rights granted to individuals who have produced works resulting from their intellectual efforts—works that possess specific forms or characteristics, or meet certain criteria, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. The term Intellectual Property Rights is also commonly abbreviated as HKI .

Both *Hak Kekayaan Intelektual* and its abbreviation, HKI, serve as the standard and official Indonesian equivalents for the term “Intellectual Property Rights ” (IPR); they are used in various legislative regulations as well as in the name of the state technical unit responsible for administering the system for granting and managing HKI—namely, the Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights .
