SCOPUS is today the largest provider of indexing services and journal databases. SCOPUS is operated by Elsevier, an international scientific publishing organization headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands, founded in 1880.

Currently, SCOPUS has indexed more than 22,000 journal articles from more than 5,000 publishers. Around 20,000 indexed articles are peer-reviewed articles. In addition to SCOPUS, there are several other journal index services. Indonesian journals that are indexed by SCOPUS are considered high quality and internationally renowned.
