As part of the 57th Anniversary of Universitas Trisakti’s series of events, the Product Design Study Program, together with the Interior Design Study Program of the Faculty of Art and Design, Universitas Trisakti, collaborated to organize a Studium Generale on “Rattan and its Application in Products,” which was held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at the Gallery Room, Building R, 2nd floor, Campus A, Universitas Trisakti.

The event was opened by the Vice Dean 1 of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Awang Eka Novia Rizali, S.Sn, M.Ds. In his speech, this activity aims for students to gain insight from professionals that would inspire for creativity and innovation.

The guest speaker was Abie Abdillah, a designer of Furniture Products, who, in his presentation, said that rattan has indeed become one of the largest commodities in this country. A record says that Indonesia supports around 80% of rattan material needs. The richness of rattan natural resources is a source of inspiration and interest, leading rattan-derived products subject to various awards.

It is expected that with this activity, students can learn the knowledge and be inspired in contributing to the creative business.
